“PROVISION ACCESS TO INFORMATION” IN THE FRAMEWORK OF PROJECT «ADVANCING MEDIA FREEDOM THROUGH LEGAL REFORM IN TAJIKISTAN”

The conference on the topic “Ensuring Access to Justice” was held with the participation of 50 people, from among the representatives of the EBST, law enforcement agencies and justice, ministries and departments, media representatives and civil society activists.

According to the conference speakers, today 515 newspapers, magazines and news agencies are registered in Tajikistan, including 330 newspapers, of which 125 are state-owned and 205 are private and public, 174 magazines, 11 news agencies.

In Tajikistan, support for the media and ensuring free access to information, in addition to the Constitution, is also noted in the Concept of Information Security of Tajikistan, which classifies the media as one of the main objects of information security, which provides a guarantee of freedom of the media and a ban on censorship.

In the final part, a heated discussion took place, recommendations and proposals were developed to improve the norms of the current legislation regulating the activities of the media in Tajikistan.
