Podcast “New Media”
Media is not – fourth power, it is public opinion. This stereotyped misconception is the reason why journalists are under pressure. And the fewer journalists, the more rumors and unverified information that form public opinion.
Today, together with IWPR editor Marat Mamadshoev, we are talking about analytical journalism in Tajikistan, or rather about why it is practically non-existent. What makes up analytical journalism, why it has become uninteresting to the Tajik reader and those who make decisions, or rather, why decisions are not made based on the demands of society.
How insiders work in the world and why they do not exist in Tajikistan, how public opinion affects journalists and how journalists influence it, what is more important is freedom or experience in the work of a journalist.
“We are discussing the same problems for ten circles, and nothing changes. It’s even psychologically difficult for me to order articles on the same topics … You can take the old one, update the numbers a little, and even experts will say almost the same thing and publish it again,” says Marat Mamadshoev.
If you go into journalism, you need to go there seriously, mastering new technologies, because the future belongs to multimedia.
